About Me:

I have been composting with worms on a small scale off and on for twenty years or so. I either had a bin going at the school I worked at, where I taught Biology and natural Resources, or one at our home (sometimes simultaneously). Creating a soil amendment that was rich and vital for plants using food waste and worms was incredible to my students and I. Removing food from the waste stream and using it for a productive purpose was extremely alluring.

Since retiring, I have been able to pursue my interest in worm composting (vermiculture) unabated. Currently, I have 16 bins filled with happy worms! I’m using coffee grounds, spent mushrooms substrate, cardboard, and a bit of food waste to produce an unbelievable finished product. I’m excited to make this “black gold” available to you so that you can experience the wonders of worm compost for yourself.
